The route of the local bus changes depending on the season.
Among the route buses, the "Hachimantai Nature Trail Bus" operates from spring through autumn, extending its route to the summit of Mount Hachimantai starting in mid-April. This allows visitors to easily enjoy a variety of exciting experiences, such as the Dragon Eye of Hachimantai in spring, cherry blossoms, the snow corridor, cycling and hiking in summer, and the vibrant autumn colors of the mountains.
During the winter season, you can take the local bus to two ski resorts in Hachimantai and three tourist spots in the Matsukawa Onsen area.
Hachimantai Ski Resort is extremely popular among powder snow enthusiasts who favor deep powder and unpacked course options. Its dinner and breakfast buffets, featuring abundant local ingredients and Japanese cuisine, are also highly popular.

In the Matsukawa Onsen area, you can experience a completely different atmosphere. Deep white snow surrounds you, blanketing the beautiful rocks and trees. At the open-air baths, deer or monkeys might suddenly appear from the nearby woods. Compared to summer, fewer people come to bathe in winter, offering a quiet and healing time. This region allows you to enjoy two major hot springs with different water qualities: Matsukawa Onsen and Hachimantai Onsenkyo.
