Hachimantai boasts eight tree runs where you can enjoy some of the finest powder snow in the country.
Appi Kogen Ski Resort has five areas.

Hachimantai Resort Shimokura Ski Area has three zones.

All are intended for advanced skiers and snowboarders or above.

This is a special area accessible only to those who have approved all local rules and completed the designated entry procedures.

Appi/Shimokura Common Tree Run Area Rules

The tree run area, boasting Japan's largest scale and snow quality, is an advanced zone that typically involves greater risks than regular slopes.

Please enjoy safely by following the rules and guidelines below.

Rules

  • Do not ski in "No Skiing Zones" or areas during "No Skiing Times."
  • Register at the reception desk of each ski resort and wear the designated armband to use the area.
  • Wear a helmet.
  • Do not enter alone or in groups consisting solely of elementary school students or younger.
  • When entering the area, use the designated entrance/gate.

Preparation and Recommendations

  • Even experienced individuals must be particularly aware that this is an area where life-threatening dangers such as collisions, snow burial, and avalanches exist.
    ※This risk applies to the entire ski area. Prioritize safety above all else when skiing anywhere.
  • When entering the area, pay close attention to the movements of other skiers in the vicinity and proceed only after confirming safety.
  • When merging from the tree run area onto the general course, check your surroundings and stop if necessary to avoid hazards.
  • We recommend wearing an avalanche beacon.

Area Operations

  • The area is marked with "pink tape" and "caution signs." Any area beyond these markings is designated as a "No Skiing Zone."
  • Each area has designated operating hours, but patrols may shorten these hours or prohibit skiing/snowboarding at their discretion.
  • In cases of poor visibility due to snowfall or dense fog, fallen trees, black ice, or other hazards, the patrol may close the area for skiing and shut down the entrance/gate.
  • Regardless of whether it is inside or outside the area,Rescue services will be charged at the rates set by each ski resort.
  • Failure to comply with the rules will result in the confiscation of your lift ticket.
