Kagami-numa Pond, located near the summit of Mt. Hachimantai, is the site of a miraculous natural phenomenon known as the "Hachimantai Dragon Eye. From the parking lot of the summit rest house, it is only a 15-20 minute walk. In spring, a small island appears in the center of the pond as the snow and ice melt, giving the entire pond the appearance of a dragon's eye, hence the name. This mysterious phenomenon can only be seen between mid-May and mid-June, and its appearance varies slightly from year to year, making it a pleasure to visit every year.
The contrast between its deep transparency and the white snow is truly a spectacular sight. In recent years, this pond has attracted attention for its resemblance to the "eye of the dragon," and many people visit to catch a glimpse of the mysterious scenery. Stare intently at the quiet surface of Kagami-numa. Perhaps the surface of the water will stare back at you...
