Shin-Appi Onsen Seiryukaku

Shin-Appi Onsen Seiryukaku

Information

This hot spring inn has the unusual name of "a hot spring in the middle of the forest by the sea." The reason for this is that the source of the hot spring is ancient seawater trapped underground by ancient tectonic shifts. Surprisingly, despite being a hot spring, its salt concentration is about twice that of seawater. It is a rare hot spring inn that boasts one of the strongest saline hot springs in the country.

The two hot spring sources are the pale yellowish-brown "Golden Spring" and the translucent "Silver Spring." Both are said to have rejuvenating properties.

The guest rooms include the special rooms "Indigo" and "Crimson" with cypress-scented baths, as well as luxurious Japanese-Western style rooms and Japanese-style rooms.

The cuisine is a delightful Japanese set meal using local ingredients from Hachimantai and Appi. The rice cooked with "Appi Maitake" mushrooms, which are grown without additives or pesticides, is especially popular! In addition, the soft tofu from "Fuusetsu Hana," a famous tofu shop in Hachimantai that is well-known for its products made with domestically produced soybeans, water, and nigari (magnesium chloride), is also very popular.
