The main field for backcountry tours in Hachimantai is the former site of the closed Hachimantai ski resort (Daikoku Forest), where the Daikoku Forest Management Cooperative, which operates and manages CATs (snow vehicles), conducts daily weather observations in Daikoku Forest during the season and shares this information with the guide company to ensure safety. This tour includes skiing on majestic open terrain such as Chausu-dake (茶臼岳).

Cat & Ride

Cat & Ride" is a tour that approaches from 960m (Gozaisho) to 1440m elevation by CAT, skis around Daikoku-mori area (former Hachimantai ski resort area), and then rides back to 1440m (Gozaisho) by CAT. The main tour consists of riding back on the CAT (ride) and repeating the approach to the 1440-meter elevation area.
